Controls Technician

Provide the highest level of service and customer satisfaction, while safely conducting the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of JBT Corporation canning equipment. Primary responsibilities will be to install, inspect, and repair electrical equipment and controls systems for canning product lines. Services are provided across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Effectively interact with all functional areas of the business
Document repairs and project reports for company wide distribution.
Perform startup, testing, troubleshooting, training and installation assistance for food processing equipment control systems at JBT manufacturing facilities and at the customer's site.
Work on industrial control systems and related test equipment including PLC's, PC's, loop controllers, control valves, level probes, flow meters, RTD's and other miscellaneous hardware.
Work with contractors on all phases of project installation and startup
Work Environment
Environments with temperatures of 0 ?102 degrees F. High noise levels may be present and appropriate PPE will be used. Constant work in and around heavy machinery.
Physical Demands
Maintain good physical fitness: Required in confined spaces associated with entry and work on all JBT equipment. Occasional lifting of heavy objects up to 50 lbs for distances up to 20'. Squatting, prolonged standing, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, and working at heights up to 100'.
Possible exposure to hazards such as noise, heavy equipment, temperature extremes, chemicals, etc. while working on the shop floor, assembly areas and field service applications.
Physical demands when working at customer sites may include ability to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, reach above shoulders, and walk.
May be subject to inclement weather conditions
Major Responsibilities
Support the electrical control needs of the business by
Using CAD, database systems and available resources to make layouts, evaluate control systems, analyze and generate new designs
Testing and evaluating prototypes and products
Traveling to customer sites to perform controls start-up and trouble-shooting of food processing equipment and operator training
Writing PLC programs to control various equipment
Creating functional OIT screens for operator interaction
Meet with customers to determine needs and recommend solutions
Assist with development of quotes
Prepare reports, correspondence, procedures and/or specifications by
Consolidating technical data and papers from sales personnel, customers and publications
Using effective internal presentation and report writing skills
Contributing to improvements in internal processes and standards to insure efficient development of systems and products to meet business and customer expectation
Domestic and international travel required with periods up to four weeks per trip. 75% travel.
Adhere to JBT Corporation's operating policies and code of ethics. This includes compliance of JBT Corporation's off-site safety policy.
Self-starter requiring a minimum amount of supervision and the ability to maintain a professional appearance and conduct both on and off the job.
Recognize and take corrective actions to unsafe work conditions or practices
May perform other duties as assigned.
Must have experience in control system products: developing, testing, documenting, manufacturing and maintaining. Requires a minimum of five (5) years experience with industrial controls systems involving hardware and software development projects.
Technical/Trade School required. High School Diploma required. Technical degree AA or BA preferred.
Minimum five (5) years controls field service experience. Food industry service experience preferred. JBT Corporation Canning product line knowledge preferred.
Ability to understand PC based control systems with Microsoft O/S
Ability to read machine control electrical schematics
Knowledge of process control systems. (i.e. utility control and measurement, steam water and air).
Ability to program PLC's & GUI systems.
Ability to configure industrial machine controls, including AC/DC drives.
Ability to read, interpret and prepare applicable technical information and suggest design/process changes to ensure simple, functional and cost effective results.
Ability to communicate within a team environment.
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Ability to anticipate potential problems and take preventative actions.
Ability to use MRP based business system, Syteline or equivalent.
Good P.C. skills in Word, Excel, electronic mail and windows based programs.
Strong customer service skills required.
Ability to solve mechanical and electrical technical problems quickly in a high pressure production environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
